Knock knock.
Who's there?
Train.
Train who?
Train, you're a heavy train!

Fa (again)

OK, now that Ben is 2, his joke has evolved.

Knock knock.
Who's there?
Fa.
Fa who?
Fa da da!

And he now laughs, you know, with that grin that completely makes it impossible for you to keep a straight face.

Fa (reprise)

OK, now Benny said:

Knock knock!
Who's there?
Fa fa.
Fa fa who?
I don't know!

Boy, did we laugh. Benny started talking in sentences in the past few weeks...

Banana...

You know how this one goes -- you say Banana a bunch of times, then Orange, they say "Orange Who?" You say "Orange you glad I didn't say Banana again?"

For some reason, the kids find this one endlessly amusing. Over and over and over again!

Rachel has it down now, but Jeremy keeps messing it up, and it is so funny! He'll start out with Orange, and skip the whole Banana part, then Rachel chimes in and corrects him. The funniest part of this is watching the two of them and their little conversations with each other about it.

How about it, anyone out there have other Banana/Orange stories, or other knock knock stories?

Fa

Knock knock.
Who's there?
Fa.
Fa who?
Da!

OK, this is Benny's first joke - ever. He isn't quite 2 years old yet. You gotta admit, though, it's pretty awesome for a first joke, for someone who is 22 months old!

Sandals...

Knock knock.
Who's there?
Sandals.
Sandals who?
umm...Sandals! I wish I was a window! hahahahaha.

Ya

Knock Knock
Who's There?
Ya
Ya Who?
Yahoo, I didn't know I was a cowboy!

- I don't know why Jeremy says "Ya" on the punch line, but he always does. This is his least surreal joke, because he got it from a Wiggles video - although he did mangle the punch line a bit. Still, it's a tried & true staple.

Introduction

OK, here's the scoop on this blog. The kids (well, Rachel and Jeremy now, but I'm sure Benny will later) love to tell each other knock knock jokes. Jeremy (aka "The Ham") I think is the best, because his jokes are truly surreal. Also, he tells them with such fervor, and then he laughs hilariously after the punch line - like the punch line is really funny. They're not, but he is. The funniest thing about them is how funny he thinks they are.
